Sharon Wright Mitchell is a poet and teacher living in Athens, Georgia. She studied English, comparative literature, and education at the University of Georgia. In composing this poem, she felt strongly that it should be the women who were remembered, not their killer. She attempted to remove the murderer from the article entirely and let the women speak. They say, “Remember us.”
